PEZ Worlds Roadside Video Wrap-Up

Montage of roadside images from the Montréal Worlds 2026.

My first trip to Montréal and my first World Road Cycling Championships delivered more than I could fit into a single race report—or a single video. These Montréal Worlds 2026 highlights bring together my favourite moments from the trip: Brandon McNulty’s emotional winning celebration, roadside conversations with fans, an e-bike exploration of the circuit and Canadian Isabella Holmgren sprinting for a world title. It was exhilarating, exhausting and exactly the kind of experience I’d hoped to share with PEZ readers.

PEZ Roadside Hilight Reel – Elite Men Worlds 2026

There was literally so much to see and shoot on Sundays delete men’s world championship road race that I wasn’t sure where to start on my day’s video theme.   And when I found myself in the right place at the right time and captured Brandon McNulty’s winning celebration I knew that was my go to piece for Sunday.   After travelling back Monday and digging through the rest of the videos on my phone, I pieced together this highlight reel, which does a pretty good job of capturing the day, which was exhilarating and exhausting by the end – all in uber the 3 minute limit for Shorts.

Mens Elite Road Race: That Moment When You’ve Just Won the World Championships

Luck cannot be underestimated at the Worlds, in a bike race, or even in every day life.  As much as I wish I could say I had planned this shot, it was just pure luck that I found myself standing in this one spot away from the photographers – where I was not allowed to be because I did not have official photographer credentials.  Yet here I was next to Summer McNulty, who I didn’t realize was there at the time, but soon enough figured it out, and managed to keep my wits about me to keep the camera rolling, and this very emotional scene in the frame, as I got jostled, squished and squeezed out by the scrum of photographers.

Who Wins the Worlds – PEZ-Fan Roadside Predictions at the Elite Women’s Road Race

Each day, I would try to come up with a theme for that day’s video and then shoot content to fit an efficient editing schedule at the end of the race. I had intended to talk to as many fans as I could throughout the week, so on the Women’s Elite road race day I decided to concentrate my questions on roadside predictions for the men’s elite race, all while the women’s race unfold.  Combining the two ideas allowed me to present the excitement and action of the race throughout the day, while recording some really cool interactions with fans on the roadside – including our very own Literary Editor – Leslie Reissner.

Montreal Worlds Road Course Recon by E-bike

You cannot go to a World Championships and not personally inspect the road circuit either by foot, or even better by bike. While public access to the course was possible in the early hours of the day, that didn’t work with my schedule.  so instead, I used Montréal’s  public bike rental system (another first for me), to chase the Men’s U 23 road race and check out the course at the same time. It took me about 2 1/2 hours to get around, and I later discovered a $50 surcharge on my credit card for the bike rental fee for keeping the bike too long.

Roadside at the U23 Womens Roadrace

My first day on the ground at the worlds was all about getting credentials, checking out what kind of access I would have, and showing you some of the behind the scenes stuff media access allows – and watching the U 23 women’s race unfold before my eyes to a spectacular finish where Canadian Isabella Holmgren sprinted to a silver metal behind Viktória Chladonova.

PEZ Goes to the World Road Cycling Championships

Travel days can be pretty uneventful, but we all know when you’re heading to an exciting event like this the excitement builds the closer you get to your destination, and then journey is part of the entire experience so I thought hey why not tap into that great trend around social and post my own come along with me video as I travelled from Vancouver to Montreal.

Thanks for coming along for my first Worlds—and my first visit to Montréal. Watch the videos above, tell us which moment was your favourite, and follow PEZCyclingNews on YouTube and Instagram for more racing, roadside encounters and cycling adventures.
