With sunset ever earlier each day, now, Gear Break recognizes that the shortening days of the late summer turn are here. But less daylight just means making every ride count, and there’s no shortage of tech help. This week’s lineup brings plenty of tech to keep you moving fast. Mosaic GT i55
Ti goes wide!
Gravel riding has changed. Courses have become rougher (and muddier), riders are venturing farther from pavement, and wider tires have become an essential tool for riders seeking more speed, comfort, and confidence over unpredictable terrain. The new Mosaic GT-1 i55 and GT-2 i55 were built for exactly this evolution.
Representing a complete redesign of the company’s gravel platform, the GT-1 i55 and GT-2 i55 become the most capable gravel bikes Mosaic has ever produced. Designed Around the Modern Gravel Rider
Since the introduction of Mosaic’s original GT platform, gravel riding has continued to evolve. Races have become rougher, adventure rides have become longer, and riders increasingly expect a single bike to handle everything from fast dirt roads to muddy backcountry terrain. Mosaic designed the GT-1 i55 and GT-2 i55 around these changing demands.
Accommodating a 55mm tire required far more than simply making room for a bigger tire. Mosaic completely redesigned the rear triangle, shortening chainstay length from 435mm to 430mm while simultaneously creating clearance for significantly larger tires. At the same time, Mosaic developed a new in-house designed gravel fork after finding that existing options no longer met the performance, integration, and geometry requirements of its next-gen gravel platform. The result preserves the responsive handling Mosaic riders expect while dramatically expanding the bike’s capability across a broader range of terrain.
Engineering That Solves Real Problems
At the center of the redesign is Mosaic’s first-ever 3D-printed titanium component with an exclusive rear yoke. The new design provides clearance for up to a 55mm tire while accommodating modern 1x gravel drivetrains with chainrings from 38 to 50 teeth.
Working together with a newly offset seat tube, the system allows Mosaic to fit substantially larger tires without increasing chainstay length or compromising ride quality.
A Fork Built for Where Gravel is Going
Increasing tire clearance wasn’t simply about redesigning the frame. It also needed a fork capable of supporting the way modern gravel bikes are ridden, and the conditions we sometimes find ourselves in… ahem Unbound ‘26, ‘23, ’15, ’08. Unable to find an existing fork that met every requirement for the new platform, Mosaic designed its own fork, developed specifically around the GT i55. The new fork provides generous clearance for 55mm tires with room to spare for muddy conditions, while incorporating fully internal brake routing and suspension corrected geometry with a 415mm axle-to-crown length.
That geometry also makes the GT i55 compatible with modern gravel suspension forks, giving riders the flexibility to tailor their bike for everything from high-speed racing to rugged backcountry adventures.
Modern Standards Throughout
Alongside the redesigned frame, the GT-1 i55 and GT-2 i55 incorporate the latest generation of frame standards introduced across Mosaic’s 2026 lineup.
- The GT-1 i55 features an oversized IS52 head tube, fully internal cable routing, a T47 bottom bracket, UDH compatibility, and is delivered as a frameset with an ENVE In-Route stem and seat post.
- The GT-2 i55 utilizes semi-integrated routing through a Cane Creek HCR cockpit while maintaining the clean aesthetic and serviceability that define Mosaic’s Level-2 platform.

Liv Rev Pro Mips Helmet – $300

It’s Tour de France Femmes Avec Zwift week so PEZ thought it would be appropriate to showcase something intended for the ladies

Chuck sez: Liv is a cycling brand that puts women first. It’s the world’s first and only comprehensive bike brand dedicated exclusively to women. A brand that’s for women, by women, and with women. Although the Liv Rev Pro Mips is a helmet designed for women, there isn’t anything inherently “female” about it from a purely functional standpoint, i.e., it provides robust impact protection, high air flow for cooling/comfort, and is lightweight for riding comfort. And all that is a good thing.
It’s aero and ventilated
I don’t have a wind tunnel to measure drag force and air flow, but the shape of the Rev Pro Mips is much like other aero road helmets. Meaning it’s more “round-ish” (some might even say “bulbous”) than “sleek” (at least to my eye).
But the Rev Pro Mips isn’t a “pure” aero helmet (the Liv Pursuit is more that) given it’s relatively prolific ventilation:
- 5 front vents (the far left and right vents have a hard plastic insert to help keep sunglasses in place)
- 2 side vents
- 3 top vents
- 4 rear vents
So one way to describe the Rev Pro Mips is that it’s a ventilated aero helmet (with more emphasis on ventilation than aero). As such, it’s built for riding fast in hot weather — which describes what the women’s Liv AlUla Jayco team is doing this week at the Tour de Frances Femmes avec Zwift (Liv is also an official partner of the race).
Crash protection
We never want to test this aspect of a helmet, but…
These days, we expect demand high crash ratings and Mips (or another rotational impact protection system) from premium helmets. This helmet brings both.
Mips Air Node system
Regular PEZ readers know that we are a fan of Mips that provides rotational force direction impact protection. The Rev Pro Mips uses the Mips Air Node system:
The Mips® Air Node system is a low-friction layer laminated onto the base of the comfort padding. Hook-and-loop fabric touch fasteners connect the Mips® system nodes to the energy-absorbing liner. At angled impacts, the nodes release locally, allowing the padding to slide and reduce rotational motion to the head.
Mips adds another layer of protection on top of minimum safety standards. The Rev Pro Mips meets CPSC 1203 (US) and CE EN 1078 (European).
5-Star rating
Also, Liv claims a 5-star rating for the Rev Pro Mips from the Virginia Tech Helmet Lab that conducts independent, star-based safety ratings for helmets. The lab uses the Summation of Tests for the Analysis of Risk (STAR) methodology to evaluate bicycle helmet safety. This method exceeds basic regulatory standards by assessing both linear acceleration and rotational velocity to estimate concussion risk. Each helmet undergoes 24 laboratory impact tests across six specific locations on the helmet. The testing simulates real-world crash scenarios by dropping a helmeted headform onto a 45-degree steel anvil covered in coarse sandpaper to replicate road friction.
The Liv Rev Pro Mips currently on the Virginia Tech Helmet Lab website is the previous model and has a 4-star rating. The lab tested the 2026 Giant Rev Pro Mips – which is the same helmet branded by Giant instead of Liv – and gave it a 5-star rating. So it’s safe bet that the Liv Rev Pro Mips is the same.
Sizing and fit
Based on Liv’s sizing recommendation, my wife got a size M (which also happens to be the size of other helmets she’s worn/wears). But try before you buy is always a good idea because you won’t really know how a helmet fits on your head until you try it on. In my wife’s case, the size M Liv Rev Pro Mips fit her snugly even before adjusting the fitting dial at the back of the helmet.
The PEZ better half verdict
Chuck’s wife sez: Overall, the Liv Rev Pro Mips is a comfortable fit on my head. I appreciate that the rear basket can be adjusted to make it easier to pull my hair through it. Although it has a more “substantial” look, weight-wise it doesn’t feel different than my other helmet. Aero gains aren’t high on my priority list, but I’ll take however many #marginalgans watts it might give me. And even though Rev Pro Mips has fewer vents than my other helmet, it’s a case of fewer but bigger is as good as (if not better) in terms of air flow compared to my other helmet that has more vents. But for the record, I readily admit that I’m not a fan of and not doing a whole lot of riding in the SC Lowcountry summer heat and humidity.
DMT Pogi’s Superlight TDF the 5th
Tadej Pogačar. The Yellow Jersey. The Champs-Élysées. And a special edition of the Pogi’s Superlight.
For the fifth time, DMT has had the privilege of standing alongside the Slovenian superstar on cycling’s most coveted podium. It comes as no surprise. His mind is already on the next challenge, the next victory… and the next record waiting to be broken.

Adidas Sport Sunglasses
Cycling glasses that do more
While not putting together EuroTrash, TrashMan Mike’s been doing some product testing and wanted to share a guest mini-review on some sunnies that he thinks you’ll like.
The World Cup just wrapped up with Adidas front and center for much of the tournament (including what I thought was one of the best commercials of all time). We know Adidas for their shoes – boots, in football parlance – but who knew they offer riding shades as well?
Unboxing
Don’t be fooled by the lack of flair. And, no fancy name. And when you open the standard paperboard box (which I forgot to photograph…editor’s note: we are retraining him!), you’ve got the shades and a bag made of practice jersey material featuring the Adidas tri-stripe. They’ve also provided a couple of pieces of documentation that these days should be a card with a QR code. No big deal, though.
On test
Adidas markets these as running sunnies, but they are a solid option for riding. The feature that stood out the moment I put them on — really the moment I pulled them from their sleeve — was the very large wrap-around shield style lens. They worked well for mountain biking, where peripheral awareness is especially vital. I also sported them on a couple of road rides, where they proved comfortable, and protected my eyes well. They are large, but on my face, they are no larger than comparable sunglasses from other premium sunglasses manufacturers.
Also, whether I was on shredding the trails or on a spicy road ride, perspiration flowing, the Sport sunglasses did not slip. The Sport sunglasses owe their secure fit to the slightly sticky rubber nosepads (and being very light).

Adidas point out that the Sport sunglasses provided “Ultralight Performance,” but that’s not all:
