The Cycling House has been offering trips on Mallorca for 15 years, and we’ve come to know the island pretty well. While we love the coastal roads and post-ride beach vibes, our favorite thing about Mallorca can’t be found on a map—it’s our local guides.
Our local guides bring our Mallorca itineraries to life with unbeatable insider knowledge, infectious energy, and some serious bike skills. As we look forward to returning to Mallorca in October, we asked Pol Rodríguez why he loves welcoming TCH guests to his home island each year.
In Pol’s words, here are six Mallorca highlights that can’t be missed:
World-Class Climbing on Cap de Formentor
It’s not easy to choose my favorite climb on the island, but I’d say Cap de Formentor. Every time I ride there, I feel incredibly lucky to call Mallorca home. The landscape is simply breathtaking, and it never gets old.

Exploring Old Town
When it comes to off-the-bike activities, my top recommendation is visiting Pollença Old Town. Since I don’t drink alcohol, I can’t really say the wine tasting! As a local, I love having the opportunity to show guests the town where I live and share some of its history, traditions, and little curiosities. It’s always special to see Mallorca through their eyes.

Coffee Dreams Come True
What’s a ride without a coffee stop? Without a doubt, my favorite café in Mallorca is Cycling Planet. They’re our friends, but even without that, it’s a magical place. It’s the cycling temple for both locals and visitors.
Cruising Along the Coast
The Cycling House’s Mallorca itinerary is full of amazing days on the bike, but my favorite is definitely the Coastal Ride. The scenery is just spectacular, and it captures everything that makes cycling in Mallorca so special.

Chef Devon’s Paella
We always eat well at The Cycling House and there are so many dishes I love. But if I had to choose just one, I’d say Devon’s paella. He’s become a true master at making it, and it’s absolutely delicious.

Local Lingo
“Uep!” (pronounced oo-ep) is probably the most authentic Mallorcan greeting you’ll hear. It’s our local way of saying “Hi!” or “Hey!” You’ll hear it everywhere—from cafés to village squares. If you greet a local with a cheerful “Uep!”, you’re already one step closer to feeling like a true Mallorcan!
Just when I think I’m a Mallorca expert, Pol and our other local guides introduce me to a new hidden gem on the island. If you’d like to experience Mallorca through Pol’s eyes, we have just a few spots remaining on our October 9–15 Mallorca Tranquilo trip. This “tranquilo” itinerary offers more moderate climbing, slightly shorter rides, and more time for you to soak up all that Mallorca has to offer.
Now that United is offering direct flights from Newark to Palma, it’s easier than ever to extend summer riding with a week in Mallorca. Give me a call to chat more about how we can fit this trip into your schedule. We can’t wait to be back on the island with Pol and the team—until then, we’ll be practicing our “Uep!”
See you on the road,
Brendan
