Gear Break: Unofficially Summer — DMT KRO EVO SL, MAAP x QUOC M3 Pro, Mavic Comete 50, (updated) Rapha Brevet Collection, Santini x Pirelli, , Showers Pass Century 2.0

Gear Break is unofficially welcoming summer after this weekend if you’re in the US…and if you aren’t, you can still join us for the start! Heavy on kit this week, we aim to have you ready for summer. With the Giro in full swing, we’re leading out with a new colorway from DMT developed for Team Unibet. And not to be outdone, UK based QUOC has collaborated with MAAP for a fast new colorway as well. Mavic has dropped a new “do-it-all” wheelset. To round out the week, we’ve got the new Rapha Brevet collection to keep you going the distance, an evolved Santini x Pirelli collection, and if it rains, Showers Pass will keep you dry and performing to the end.

DMT KRO EVO Superlight

Unibet colorway

A moment as special as a team’s first-ever Grand Tour appearance deserves a special pair of shoes. Over the past few days, DMT has completed a unique edition of the KR0 EVO Superlight, created especially for the Unibet Rose Rockets, whose participation in the Giro d’Italia has already added another remarkable chapter to the young history of the team.

For a squad that has always done things differently, the Verona-based brand decided to go one step further, trying to capture the very essence of the Franco-Dutch team: the Rockets. Set against the shoe’s iconic white design are pink details and a stylised rocket, blending perfectly with both the colours of the Giro and the Unibet identity.

The shoes were designed as a surprise gift for the team. Although already available to the riders, the athletes currently racing the Giro will not wear them immediately. Sprint Coach Marcel Kittel sez: “It’s always better not to change shoes during a Grand Tour.”

For now, the team will continue racing in the classic white version of the KR0 EVO, but the Rockets will certainly find a way to show them off before reaching Rome. Bas Tietema, in his usual humorous style, sez: “We, the team founders, will wear them right away. We’re easy to recognise because we have hair on our legs.”

Light, aerodynamic, built for speed

The KR0 EVO is DMT’s signature model. Originally developed together with Elia Viviani, featuring a dual-dial closure system designed to be adjusted even under maximum race effort. The shoe is generally better suited to powerful, high-speed riders, which is exactly why it was chosen by an explosive sprinter such as Dylan Groenewegen.

The Superlight version is aimed at riders looking for the ultimate combination of lightness, comfort and aerodynamics.

Every detail has been engineered to maximise efficiency on the bike, starting with the Aeroflex Knit upper, built from a new technical yarn that combines durability, breathability and flexibility while naturally adapting to the shape of the foot.

The microfiber tongue enhances the wrap-around feel, while the stitched and adaptive TPU instep band delivers precise and comfortable support, even during maximum efforts. Completing the fit system, the dual BOA® Li2 dials allow for independent micro-adjustments, ensuring a personalised fit for every rider.

At the heart of the shoe sits the Superlight carbon outsole, developed to maximise stiffness and power transfer while keeping weight down to just 215 grams in size 42.

Mattia Viel, Global Sponsorship Manager at DMT, sez: “The KR0 EVO Superlight was designed as a flagship model with its own identity and visibility, even alongside a hugely successful product like the Pogi’s, which naturally attracts a lot of attention.

Pricing & Availability

These special edition KRO EVO SLs will retail for US$599.00 / €429,00. You can pre-order the shoes now, with an estimated delivery time of around 35 days. For full details, sizing, and ordering, head over to DMTcycling.com.

MAAP x QUOC M3 Pro Leopard

A tribute to speed and agility in nature

Melbourne-based premium cycling apparel brand MAAP and British cycling footwear innovator QUOC have reunited to drop their most striking collaboration to date, the M3 Pro ‘Leopard’.

Faster by Nature, this limited edition release takes the race winning architecture of the M3 Pro and reimagines it through a lens of raw, instinctive speed.

A new colorway in a proven shoe

The new ‘Leopard’ colorway builds on the success of their previous road and gravel collaborations. It celebrates the intersection of biological efficiency and mechanical precision. MAAP has wrapped QUOC’s most advanced performance road shoe in a distinctive leopard print with signature MAAP details including a new, improved contrasting lining and toe guard.

The latest collaboration between the two brands furthers their shared belief that technical excellence should never be divorced from progressive design. While MAAP brings its distinctive Melbourne-born design DNA, QUOC contributes well over a decade of craftsmanship and footwear innovation. The result is a shoe that feels and performs as good as it looks.

Features & Specs

At a featherweight 242g, the M3 Pro utilises QUOC’s race-grade, unidirectional carbon fiber outsole for uncompromising stiffness. The show balances raw power with a vibration-dampening insole that includes a pressure point relief. This combination ensures peak output never comes at the expense of comfort.

The shoe’s tongue-less wraparound construction works in tandem with a dual-dial micro-adjustment system to provide a precision fit. Complemented by laser-cut perforations, the design allows for seamless, on-the-fly tuning without compromising airflow.

Pricing & Availability

The MAAP x QUOC M3 Pro is available in strictly limited quantities. Available now for £340 / €395 / $450 direct from maap.cc and quoc.cc. MAAP LaB retail stores and selected MAAP and QUOC retailers around the globe are also stocking limited quantities.

Mavic Comete 50

The do-it-all aero wheel
Mavic has launched its latest aerodynamic wheelset, the Comete 50, showcasing a modern engineering shift for the classic French manufacturer. Known traditionally for taking a methodical, measured path to adopting new wheel standards, Mavic crafted this wheelset as a comprehensive system built entirely around 28mm tires. The new design pairs a 50mm rim depth with a wide 23mm internal channel to perfectly match the high-speed requirements of contemporary road cycling.

Wind-Tunnel Optimized Stability

Mavic optimized the Comete 50 rim shape through rigorous testing inside the Geneva wind tunnel. Experienced professional racers heavily validated the final production designs during extensive real-world road training.

The engineering team prioritized structural stability in chaotic, changing crosswinds rather than chasing unrealistic, straight-line laboratory data. This specific design focus ensures predictable handling and maximum control when crosswinds become highly volatile on the open road.

All-Terrain Aerodynamic Speed

The physical wheelset achieves a highly impressive balance regarding overall weight, rim depth, and everyday structural endurance. Enthusiasts can confidently accelerate up steep alpine ascents or drive the pace across flat valley floors.

The rigid construction also ensures immediate acceleration and exceptional power transfer during violent, out-of-the-saddle sprint efforts. It ultimately serves as an exceptionally versatile, high-performance option for all-around competitive road riding.

Advanced Adaptive Carbon Layup

Mavic employs a sophisticated Adaptive Layup carbon manufacturing technique to shed unnecessary rim weight. The unique construction process strategically layers high-grade T700, T1000, and 3K carbon fibers.

This precise material blend actively minimizes fatiguing road vibrations before they reach the rider. It provides incredibly sharp, surgical cornering precision without sacrificing Mavic’s legendary reputation for wheel toughness.

Direct Energy Transfer

Proprietary bladed carbon spokes lower rotational drag and aerodynamic turbulence across a wide range of yaw angles. The carbon spokes efficiently transfer every single watt of rider energy straight into the pavement.

Mavic firmly stands behind the structural integrity of the wheelset by offering a complete lifetime warranty. This extended structural coverage proves the historic brand fully expects customers to log heavy training mileage.

Key Features and Specs

The foundation of the Comete 50 is a 100% unidirectional carbon rim, manufactured utilizing an Adaptive Layup that integrates T700, T1000, and 3K carbon fibers. This rigid setup provides precise tracking and rapid power delivery while dampening harsh road feedback.

Rapha Brevet Collection

Evolved to keep going the distance

From the audacious spirit of early racers came ‘Audax’ and with it, the Brevet. These were physical certificate of endurance that served as the definitive proof of a long-distance challenge conquered.

Rapha’s Brevet collection is a technical, high-visibility system with ample storage engineered for long-distance or multi-day riding. New for 2026, it has been designed to meet the demands of ultra racing, validated by Transcontinental Race (TCR) champions Victor Bosoni and Jana Kesenheimer, offering a performance edge for self-supported adventures without compromising comfort.

Rapha athletes weigh in

Jana Kesenheimer sez: “Rapha Brevet is what we need for stupid long rides! Everything feels genuinely well thought out.The nature-break solution in the Cargo Bib Shorts probably saved me 1.5 hours over the 4,800km Transcontinental Race, saving precious time (and nerves). At the same time, the elastic pull-down straps added extra comfort to my shoulders.

“I love the seamless design on my legs, which prevents skin irritation even after sweating all day long, and the reflective detailing makes me feel much safer riding through the night. There’s a small pocket on the back of the bib shorts that not only keeps your keys secure for a short post-work t-shirt ride, but also safely stores a GPS tracker during a long race.”

Victor Bosoni sez: “What I love most about the new Rapha Brevet range is how it reduces mental load during ultra-distance riding. When you spend entire days and nights on the bike, you need equipment you never have to question. Comfort, practicality, layering, visibility – everything simply works so you can focus entirely on moving forward and enjoying the journey. With the Rapha Brevet system, I never think about discomfort, overheating or storage. That freedom allows me to stay present in the ride and focus on what ultra-distance is really about: movement, freedom and discovery.”

Another rider who has put the new collection through its paces is Lael Wilcox, who aims to break the overall Around the World 18,000 mile record this year. She has held the women’s record since 2024.

Lael sez: “The new Brevet kit is by far the most comfortable kit I’ve ever worn and it’ll be my primary outfit for Around the World. The fabric feels less restrictive than other jerseys. I love the shorts pockets and the quick solution for pee breaks – no matter what layers I’m wearing – is so efficient.”

Brevet evolved

The collection is a major evolution to Brevet, following significant innovation in Rapha’s Pro Team collection over the last 18 months. Ultan Coyle, Rapha’s Chief Creative Officer and two-time TCR finisher, sez: “Brevet is built around a simple idea: over long distances, comfort and speed are not opposites. They rely on each other. Comfort keeps you moving. Speed helps you cover ground efficiently. The work has been to find the balance between the two, so the rider feels supported hour after hour, day after day. It is kit for the long haul, when the finish line might be days away rather than hours.”

The Brevet stripes

Two horizontal stripes have been ever-present on Rapha Brevet jerseys, gilets and jackets. More than a mere signifier of true endurance, they incorporate integrated high-visibility and retroreflective materials strategically placed to ensure riders are seen when headed into dark, remote areas long after the sun has set. The updated Brevet stripes are significantly lighter and more flexible than their older counterparts, allowing greater movement across the chest for added comfort.

Expansive storage

Long-distance riding requires more supplies and new Rapha Brevet Jerseys feature the Brevet Air Pocket – an innovative floating five-pocket system that maximises carrying capacity and airflow.

Working seamlessly with the new Brevet Cargo Bib Shorts III and Brevet Wind Gilet III, this rear pocket system lifts away from the body when loaded. With an integrated mesh panel, they prevent heat build-up on the lower back and ensure the kit remains stable across rough terrain. Combined with the four cargo pockets on the bib shorts, the system provides ample room for valuables, packable layers and whatever local delicacy catches your hungry eye after hours in the saddle.

Wilcox made good use of these pockets during the TCR, saying, “The extended jersey pockets are great for carrying extra liquids. I remember packing them with a litre of juice and Cokes during the ride – easy calories for hot weather riding.”

Lightweight materials

The Brevet system is built upon a selection of technical materials chosen for their exceptional lightweight properties, odour-resistance and breathability. We ensure that every gram of kit contributes to a rider’s comfort and performance, without becoming a burden, reducing the need to waste time stopping to adjust layers.

A modular system, easily layered or stowed

  • The Foundation: Brevet Cargo Bib Shorts III. Engineered with lightweight Italian materials and a brand-new Endurance Seamless Chamois for multi-day comfort. The women’s version includes Nature-Break Optimisation – high-stretch uppers allow for stress-free nature breaks via a simple pull-down system, with exceptional fabric recovery to maintain chamois stability once back on the bike.
  • The Mid-Layer: Brevet Merino or Lightweight Jersey III. Merino wool or lightweight layers featuring the Brevet Air Pockets.
  • The Shield: Brevet Wind Gilet III. A resilient, high-visibility barrier against wind and road spray with a two-way zipper for easy access and temperature control.
  • The Extension: Brevet Packable Backpack. Ideal for packing a night’s meal before powering on to a bivvy or refuge. An adaptable 10-litre solution that features reflective straps and neatly compresses into an internal stowaway pocket when not in use.

Santini x Pirelli

Connecting style and innovation

Santini Cycling and Pirelli Design present the new Santini x Pirelli Sport Club 2026 collection for cyclists, an evolution of a project launched in 2024 celebrating the connection between sport, style, and innovation. Inspired by the Pirelli Sport Club, founded in Milan in 1922 to promote employee wellbeing through physical activity, the collection renews the dialogue between two Made in Italy excellence brands united by a passion for cycling, further strengthening the bond between tradition and technological research.

A collaboration renewed

Following the success of the previous two editions, the new collection expands the offering by introducing new garments and updating the graphic lines with refined details and cutting-edge technical solutions. The result is the Santini x Pirelli Sport Club 2026 collection, designed to accompany cyclists in every moment, from high-performance riding to everyday lifestyle wear.

Among the highlights of the line are the new technical jerseys. Alongside the continuing Ruota model, with a design inspired by the dynamism of a spinning wheel, and Tape, which recalls Pirelli’s 1960s advertising graphics, the new Fast jersey makes its debut. Developed to guarantee maximum aerodynamic performance, it features ultra-light fabrics and a “second-skin” fit that minimizes drag. The design of the Pirelli SC jersey has also been renewed with an all-over logo pattern, available in black and in the new chocolate colorway.

The collection

All jerseys in the Santini x Pirelli Sport Club 2026 collection feature a unisex fit and are paired with the Pirelli SC bib shorts with C3 chamois, designed for long-distance rides.

Joining the range is a new heritage-inspired piece, the Pirelli SC wool jersey, a tribute to the elegance of vintage cycling. It combines wool and refined details such as an embroidered Pirelli logo, mother-of-pearl buttons, and a metal front zipper.

Skinsuit

One of the key innovations of the Santini x Pirelli Sport Club 2026 collection is the new road skinsuit, engineered to maximize aerodynamic efficiency. The upper section uses a highly breathable, quick-drying fabric engineered to support thermoregulation even under maximum effort. The sleeves, made from woven fabric, ensure a stable and precise fit while optimizing aerodynamic performance thanks to a special striped construction. The lower section, made from high-density fabric, provides effective muscular support.

Technical pieces

Technical pieces completing the look include baselayers, a packable wind jacket and vest, alongside accessories such as socks, cycling caps, and water bottles.

Lifestyle

Alongside the technical offering, Santini and Pirelli are also introducing a lifestyle line that interprets the spirit of the Pirelli Sport Club beyond cycling. T-shirts, sweatshirts, and casual garments combine premium materials and distinctive graphics for a contemporary and versatile style.

Evolved

Like many offerings this season, the new Santini x Pirelli Sport Club 2026 collection represents a further evolution of a proven project and line. This collection unites sporting passion, industrial culture, and Italian design, confirming a shared vision focused on innovation, quality, and attention to detail.

Showers Pass Century Jacket 2.0

Do-it-all Protection

Showers Pass has unleashed a total technical overhaul of its longest-running classic shell with the new Century Jacket 2.0. For Pez readers accustomed to premium, Euro-centric race kit, the Portland, Oregon-based brand merits attention through pure technical excellence. Forged in the relentless downpours of the Pacific Northwest since 1997, Showers Pass engineers absolute armor against the elements, prioritizing bulletproof reliability that just works when the weather turns ugly.

Premium performance in the worst conditions

The Century Jacket 2.0 is a dedicated road, gravel, and adventure shell. Showers Pass built this premium piece with a supple nylon face fabric that eliminates the annoying, crinkly plastic feel of standard rainwear. Bonus: the supple face fabric makes for an easily packable jacket when you don’t need its rain protection.

The soft-to-the-touch Artex Gold Ultra fabric provides a whisper-quiet riding experience on the road or trail. A specialized 2.5-layer membrane achieves a stellar 25,000mm waterproof rating, providing an elite defense system during sudden, heavy downpours.

Dedicated Drop-Bar Architecture

The jacket utilizes a meticulous, cycling-specific cut tailored directly for drop-bar geometry. A shortened front hem completely prevents mid-ride fabric bunching when leaning forward over the handlebars. It features a rear pocket that is both accessible and large enough to cary all of your essentials, a true drop bar requirement.

Longer sleeves preserve full wrist coverage while extending your arms down into the handlebar drops. Additionally, a generous drop-tail extension blocks muddy tire spray from soaking your backside on remote gravel roads.

High-Output Thermal Regulation

The Century 2.0 acts as an efficient climate-control system to prevent overheating during steep, high-intensity climbs. Large 8-inch mechanical core vents pair with an open rear cape vent to exhaust internal moisture quickly.

Extra-wide adjustable cuffs allow you to customize airflow at the wrists on the fly. When the stormy weather finally clears, the entire 250-gram shell folds down effortlessly into its own integrated rear pocket.
