Tifoi Fototec: it’s not magic, it’s science
With a Visible Light Transmission (VLT) of 46-13%, the new Clarion Pink Fototec lens delivers all-day, dawn-to-dusk utility. The lens, like all photochromic polymer lenses, is constructed using UV sensitive molecules. When exposed to UV radiation, such as in bright sunlight, the lens darkens and filters both visible and UV radiation to protect the wearer:
- 46% VLT: In low light conditions–early mornings, dim evenings, or under thick tree cover–the lens is has a lightly tinted color.
- 13% VLT: Under direct sun, the lens darkens into a glare- and UV-blocking shield.
- In either condition, the lens delivers a high-contract optical picture to your Mk1 eyeballs, and the hydrophobic coating repels sweat and water.
An all-day ride means constantly changing light conditions. Starting in the low light of dawn requires clear or low-contrast lenses, but by noon, those same lenses leave you squinting in the sun. The new Clarion Pink Fototec lens is now an option for the Moab, Moab Lite, and Moab XC, extending the single-lens solution to the entire line.
Chuck sez: The Moab XC isn’t a new model from Tifosi. I reviewed it earlier this year. And the Clarion (mirrored) Fototec (light adaptive tinting) lens isn’t new tech. I have a Tifosi Rail with Clarion Red Fototec lens and a Rail XC with Clarion Blue Fototec lens. But Pink is a new lens color. So if you’re like me, i.e., the Giro is my favorite of the three Grand Tours and #realmenwearpink, then the new Tifosi Moab XC with Clarion Pink Fototec lens is the ‘driod you’re looking for.
Chuck’s assessment
Recalling what Chuck said about the Moab XC when it was released earlier this year. The Moab XC with the new Clarion Pink Fototec lens delivers the same performance and cool factor in a one lens solution:
IMHO, Tifosi has a winner with the new Moab XC. It’s definitely got the current trend oversize shield pro look. And they’re pro in terms of their functionality and quality. The lens real estate provides more than enough UV and wind protection. I don’t have a way to measure optical clarity, but my aging (although Lasik corrected) eyes can’t discern any real difference between Tifosi lenses and the lenses in other high quality (and more expensive) sunglasses (that are part of my rotation).
Now you have a new lens choice. If you’re riding under changing light conditions, e.g., in and out of shade, Tifosi’s Fototec lens makes a lot of sense. In low light conditions, the lens has less tint (but not completely clear). In brighter light, the lens darkens (but not quite as dark as a dedicated full-sun lens). In most cases, it’s a one lens solution that does it all from dawn to bright daylight to dusk.
There are definitely some limitations. For dedicated night riding with little/no ambient light, I would recommend a dedicated clear lens. Likewise, on cloudier and rainy days with darkened skies, it imay not new the beat solution either. (NOTE: For my eyes, when at its lightest tint, I could ride at night in an urban environment with ambient light. YMMV.)

The Xelius DRS 80th Anniversary utilizes the race-proven sixth-generation Xelius DRS frameset which Team Picnic PostNL will compete on during Stage 10 of the 2026 Tour, Bastille Day (14th July). That date has been specifically chosen to honour the brand’s proud French roots, as well as the historic milestone.
Beneath the commemorative design, the Xelius DRS features signature 3D Tubular Technology for exceptional comfort. Built with an ultra-premium UD Factory Lab carbon layup, the frame achieves a raw weight of just 740g and delivers a 15% aerodynamic improvement over its predecessor, the Xelius SL3.
The Heritage Story
Founded in the heart of Dijon by Gaston Lapierre in 1946, the brand began as a small, family-run business. Over the decades, Lapierre shifted focus from producing utility workhorses like the 1980s La Poste bicycle. They pivoted to engineering elite racing technology.

Handcrafted race-winning aerodynamics
LOOK Cycle has unveiled the 795 BladeRS 3, the third generation of its elite racing platform. Developed and validated beyond the wind tunnel, the new bike saves 15 watts compared to its predecessor. It sheds 160 grams from the frameset and offers over 350 fit combinations across six size-specific geometries. LOOK’s manufacturing facility in Burgundy, France, hand-paints, assembles, and quality-controls every frame. Each frame carries a lifetime warranty.
The Truth is on the Road
LOOK co-developed the 795 BladeRS 3 with the professional athletes of Team Cofidis from its very first conceptual sketches. Its performance was proven well before its official debut. Ridden by Alex Aranburu, it claimed a stage victory at the Itzulia Basque Country in April. Then the bike was ridden to another impressive win at the Tour of Belgium in June. Their race-wining heritage continues.
Connect the rider and bike
The development of the 795 BladeRS 3 was guided by a singular objective: performance that delivers on the road. The development process
LOOK’s development process relied on three key steps to ensure tangible speed on the road. Engineers used advanced CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations to understand turbulent airflow, specifically focusing on high yaw angles. To ensure the new platform delivers performance in unpredictable, real-world environments, LOOK rigorously tested the bike on both the open road and the velodrome. LOOK used wind tunnel testing to identify aerodynamic enhancements effective across different body types, varying speeds, and diverse drafting positions. Tested both with and without a rider, this exhaustive testing resulted in identical aerodynamic gains in both scenarios, with consistent gains completely undisturbed by the rider’s turbulence.
The outcome is a measurable advantage for every rider that positively impacts daily average speeds and training loads. At 50 kph, the new bike saves 15 watts compared to its predecessor. It maintains exceptional aerodynamic efficiency across wind angles from -15° to +15° and beyond, delivering a consistent advantage with or without a rider.

A new “old” world for racing and training
MyWhoosh, the multisport indoor training platform, has officially opened the France World, containing eight different routes on the platform. MyWhoosh opened the France World exclusively to Season Pass holders for early access over the past month. It is now available for anyone to ride from Bastille Day, France’s national day (14 July 2026).

Vive la France is more than a route to tick off. It is a heritage-inspired mission built around the culture, tradition and history of French cycling.
Conquer the stages
Vive la France unfolds across two stages. The first, Paris to the Provinces, runs from 14 to 24 July. It introduces riders to the rolling terrain and classic road-racing scenery that shaped the sport’s early years, via the Paris Classic route. The second stage, The Summit, runs from 25 July to 2 August. It will take riders to one of French cycling’s most iconic and unforgiving climbs – the Col de Galibier – a fitting finale to the mission.

fizik Gravel Team Colorways
Two premier shoes, two new team editions
Fizik this week unveiled two new team editions of its off-road racing shoes: the Ferox 2 Carbon in Team Amani colors, and the Proxy in the Black Mamba Development Squad’s signature look. A pair of colorways created for, and raced by, the riders shaping the future of East African cycling.
Both shoes carry the design language of the teams they were built for. The Ferox 2 Carbon Team Amani arrives in a shifting blue-and-black upper with coral accents, its patterns and colours drawn from the traditions of East African weaving. The Proxy Black Mamba takes on the high-visibility neon green and black of Amani’s U23 development squad reflecting the next generation learning their craft on the unpaved roads around Iten, Kenya.
A design rooted in craft and heritage
In East Africa, cloth carries meaning. Techniques for weaving and printing are handed down between generations, each pattern holding its own story of place and identity. The Team Amani colourway takes its cue from this heritage: recurring floral motifs run across the shoe, echoing emblems of celebration, energy and renewal found across the region – most visibly on the AMANI-branded insole, where a repeating bloom pattern sits against a bold coral base. In keeping with the spirit of hand-woven textiles, the design embraces small, deliberate imperfections as a nod to the human hands behind the craft rather than the machine. The result is a race shoe that performs at the highest level while carrying the culture of the regions and riders that inspired the design.
There’s a natural kinship between fizik and the teams these shoes were built for.
